Migration of bird feather into bile duct mimicking bile duct stone recurrence: First‐ever case report

The presence of a bird feather as foreign object inside the human body has rarely been reported in literature. A can cause severe complications such neck infection or duodenal perforation. Early recognition and treatment this condition may prevent associated morbidity mortality. We report case female patient who had her bile duct. caused abdominal pain without acute cholangitis. Fortunately, it was successfully removed before causing complications. This is first-ever migration into common 54-year-old Taiwanese woman history cholecystectomy due to calculous cholecystitis 1 year prior visit. She also undergone endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) two times cholangitis (8 years ago ago). Endoscopic papilla sphincterotomy performed during ERCP for stone extraction. time, she visited our clinic intermittent epigastric 2 weeks. There were no signs Abdominal computed tomography (CT) did not reveal duct bodies. arranged possible hidden stones detected by CT. To surprise, we pulled 5-cm-long out ERCP. After removing feather, remained free other next 6 months follow-up at outpatient clinic. Migration bodies should be included differential diagnosis unexplained patients with choledochoduodenal fistula previous sphincterotomy.
